New to Wordpress

What do you think? The more criticism the better!

I need to put some pics in the gallery and change the background... but what do you think so far?

Killer pic of your thumb on the Testimonial page!

I like that your About page identifies you and your history. Believe it or not, people really dig that.

I'd look at getting your phone #, and any possible call to action, located higher up where people don't have to scroll to find it.

Good start, and Wordpress is a great way to go. You may want to look at a premium theme (something like StudioPress) to get something a bit snazzier, but the bones are def there.

A couple of suggestions...
Since you are selling customers on what amounts to visual work, invest in a better camera, or borrow one, to take some nice, high-quality photos. So far, the ones you have up are hazy, muted pics that essentially fade into the similarly muted color of your site's background. If you don't have access or budget, use an image editor to play a bit with the brightness/contrast/vibrance/saturation levels.

If you don't have an actual need for the search box, you might consider losing it. If you plan on building out a more detailed site, beyond an online brochure of sorts, you can always add it back, but as it is, there's no content on your site that gains benefit from a search box as your page titles will lead people where they want to go.

Best of luck.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the input, yea I know the pictures are bad. My goal for this year is two bring my actual camera and stop trying to take pictures with a cell phone.

I was thinking the same thing of the search bar, it would be nice to get rid of it, but I am thinking about adding keywords to my site.

I will have to look into the pro versions of wordpress themes.

Thanks for the input guys, that just what I was looking for. Its a start but still has a lot of work left to go!

To remove the search bar on that template....

Go to appearance > Editor >header.php

Look for this...

Code:
<div class="only-search<?php if ( ! empty( $header_image ) ) : ?> with-image<?php endif; ?>">
				<?php get_search_form(); ?>
				</div>
			<?php
				else :
			?>
				<?php get_search_form(); ?>
Delete it and then click update.

Like the fact that there's testimonial page.

I find that as much traffic comes into my site via the testimonials page as through my home page some weeks in the spring time.

Thanks guys, I get about 85 hits a day according to google, not sure how much of that is bot traffic if any....

But it seems to be ranking well.

just google "lawncare in kent ohio" or something of that matter.

If you start looking at your traffic, you'll probably find a chunk of those 85 hits are not what you're targeting. If you haven't drilled down in to that data, hit Analytics and go to Demographics/Location, and start drilling down on the map to see what's localized. Those are the visitors you want. Next, go to the Traffic Sources section and start picking through that data and you'll see how you're being found, especially via the Organic drop down. That's where you'll find the search strings people are using, which in turn can help you shape your page content to better draw the visitors you want.
