Pine Straw
So I know it is much more popular in the Carolinas and Georgia, but it is starting to gain more popularity in Florida. I have a property that I want to use this instead of mulch. Where can you get this in the Orlando area?

I am not sure if all branches carry it, but boiling forest products mulch here in Oviedo carries it. Pine Needles are great for areas which contain acid loving plants and areas that are prone to erosion such a highly sloped bed.

FYI, keep on the lookout for scorpions when using pine straw bales. It's very common.

Pine Straw is very flammable..some cities doent allow it within 10 feet of stick built buildings.. it also is not good for commercial buildings apts etc... tenants walk into unit ..flick cigarette..and poof.. Seen it at least 5 times over the years where fires have been started..Great for natural areas away from buildings....

I have to say I don't like pine straw at all. I think it looks messy.

I do not care for the look myself but just as the OP stated those that move from the Carolinas really like it and you know you will give them what they want in the end. I also do not care for there desire to have black mulch here either. Something about watching bedding plants get nailed by the FL sun in that black mulch that is not appealing to me but if they ask for it and are paying and will not listen...you are darn skippy I will install it.
Pine straw is gaining popularity around here...I have seen it on more and more properties as well as seeing some of the resorts and theme parks using it more and more.
