Walker mower remove 10.5" blower, 26 hp
I have several model mt's that are 20 hp with 10" blower that I have removed blower to get to the starter. I wanted to remove starter on my 26 hp with 10.5" blower, so I started to remove it the same way. I am having lots of trouble removing the bolt on the side that goes through frame horizontally (this wasn't in the 10" fans). The bolt is hard to reach and hard to turn. I was thinking of cutting it off if I can reach with hacksaw. Any other suggestions.
BTW should I have removed the bolts in the engine to remove the starter instead of removing blower?

I prefer to remove the blower vs. the engine, especially on an EFI or high dump machine. I am trying to visualize which bolt you are talking about, maybe mine didn't even have it since it's an older machine that was retrofitted with the 10.5". Did you remove the idler pulley and arm for the blower belt? That helps. Check out my picture thread, I found a decent way to get the mower off the ground to make it easier to work on, though you may already do that or have a better way of doing it at least.

Followup question
Thanks for the reply. Did you mean remove the engine bolts to help remove the blower or remove engine bolts to rotate engine and remove starter without removing engine.

Blower finally came out. Thanks for all the suggestions.
It only took six hours to get blower out, starter out/in and blower back in. I know that took too long. I'm just not a good mechanic, but I try. Thanks for all the help.

Mcambrose.....you're probably a better mechanic than you think.
You did get it back together...accuracy is more important than speed. None of us were born a good mechanic......well maybe RestroRob.......... Posted via Mobile Device |
