Questions about John Deere WB

Hi everyone. I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me. To make a long story short a friend of a friend is trying to sell their 36" JD walk behind. he has no idea what make or model, but says it is only 5 years old. he also has no clue as to the hours on it. all he knows is that it is belt driven and 36" deck. my question is what models did JD produce around 2007? a few google searches didnt turn much up. Are JD mowers reliable and any good? thanks for any info anyone may have available.

It seems like they were/are 7Gxx or something to that effect. The hydro I had was designated as a 7H17. It was a 48" hydro with 17hp Kawasaki engine and I really hated that machine. Those pistol grip springs were the stiffest controls I've ever had the displeasure of using. My hands literally killed me after a few hours of using that mower. I think I sold it with under 100 hours on it.

the 7H mowers I thought were only 48" or larger.
Deere still made the GS mowers, belt driven, could have 36" or 48", so it's possible it's a GS30, GS45 or GS75.

I've got a WH48A (48" deck) for sale, 1 year old, 1 year warrant still on it, 5 hours on machine.

Questions about John Deere WB

it is surely in the GS series. I still have a 2008 7g18. Wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to buy ANY gear driven WB John Deere.

I am on my fourth gearbox on this particular unit and have done the John Deere WB scene and as far as Im concerned, So are they. Done I mean. Strap a 7 iron 2 deck to just about any mower and it will mow great. Just make sure all the other components live up to that same honor and dedication they put into engineering a mowing deck.

I still believe in JD and plan to seriously dent the bank acct. with a 900 series in the next month or so. (come on taxes!) The 7 Iron deck is top notch and gives the best mow I have seen. (for the price it should!)

Sad thing is, John Deere is supposed to be the company you fall back on. Not for their WB's though.

their new hydro mower is pretty nice.
Its not a 7 iron, but cuts nice.
I had an HD75 that I loved.
then a 7H17, HATED it, even though it cut nice.
The WH48A, though I have no use for it and am selling it, is a nice mower (and, not built by Deere. Gravely has the EXACT same machine).

Do you still have the machine and want to sell it? I am interested.

Thanks.

Re: Wh48a

actaully, I do still have it.
I have just been so busy, I haven't had time to try to sell it.

it still only has around 6 hours on it, but is almost 2 years old.
It is located in Maryland.

Where are you located?
