Need to build Zmax carrier rack for F-550
Whats up fellas,
I have always pulled our Z's in a trailer. I bought an F-550 dump to boost winter production and would like to now build a carrier rack for our Max. I can't find any info on anything. I talked to somebody down to LT Rich and they said its doable but they kind of stay out of it. Does anybody have any leads to where I can start this. Looking to build something simple with ramps and a prolocker. Something similar to the old permagreen racks, but obviously bigger and dual, or triple tubed. Take note I would also like to be able to haul the JR if need be, but that doesn't sound like it would be an issue. Also.... figured I would mention, the dump has central hydraulics, so I thought it would be cool (if cost effective) to maybe somehow do away with ramps and just have a flat platform with small sides and a prolocker and just have some sort of hydraulic cylinder lift it up....how freakin cool would that be? Anyhow, thanks for taking a look. I'm looking forward to all the ideas. This winter sure has sucked and I'm looking forward to slanging some fert soon. Bryan |

You might go and talk with a lift gat ecompany then, the type that you see on the back of a box truck.
The problem with a rack like the type used for pg is the weight is more on a z. You cant take that much weight and have it canter levered out of a receiver hitch. You could run cable from the outer most corners back to the dump bed to take up some weight, but not sure how that would perform as you go over bumps...

Is there a limit on how wide something can be hanging off the back of the truck?
Don't know....just asking.

I'll get a picture either today or tomorrow. It will be kind of hard to see with the salter on. I have one on my phone I'll try to post.

I don't think you'll be able to tell from this picture, but figured it was a good time to show off my salter.
