Ryan Sod Cutter
Any feedback on this tool. We are looking to use it to put in drip line
but the sod cutter blade is also interesting. |

IMHO the Ryan sod cutter is top of the line. It comes in very handly when making ornamental beds as well as sod replacement. .

Are you planning on using it as a vibrating plow?

I have No expernce with 6 inch rocks. But I can tell you the blade on a Sod cutting tractor isn't any bigger. I bought mine used from a Equipment Rental and got several years out of it before I sold it with my company. IMHO the Ryan is going to hold up as good or better than anything against 6 inch rocks. .

Good catch. A Sod Cutter vibrates left to right while a Wire or hose trencher will vibrate up and down as well. I am not saying a modified Sod cutter couldn't do a light gage wire install in our Sandy soil but it wouldn't be as easy as a vibrating Trencher. Of Course it is always nice to have a tool that can be used for multiply jobs. .

Top quality sod cutter, I have cut out more sod than I care to remember using them, not aware of a pipe pulling attachment, there may be one though. I would think the cutter would be to small to properly pull pipe in all but the sandiest of soils.

we have a lot of shallow tree roots. Last year I used a edger to cut the grass and make a small ditch. Then I used a narrow pick and irrigtion shovel. We plan to demo this thing but it looks like the ticket. The big companies doen't do installs on old lawns. On new stuff they lay the drip and them put the sod squares on top of it. |

I think I'm following. Are you installing sub turf area drip irrigation?
