I'd rather use something selective.

Good luck. Msma was our best friend for that stuff.. I spot single clumps with round up it usually isn't a bad deal..

Celsius + Monument or Revolver as a broadcast treatment has worked well for me. Even on old dallis grass there for more than one year. 1% MSO in the solution, 40 gallons per acre through AI fan nozzles. My choice between Monument and Revolver depends on what other weeds are problems in that lawn. Monument is for sedges. Revolver is for coexistent goosegrass.

In my experiences Celcius [with mso] by itself will only stun and slow down the growth of Dallisgrass. I tried some Revolver, Celcius with mso mix last fall as a spot spray on some in St Augustine that is looking pretty promising.
At my CEU class this year several people were complaining about the MSMA situation and was wondering what we were going to use for Dallisgrass. Dr Macafee said that Tech High [Texas Tech University for the non Aggies] was doing research with a chemical company on a new product for Dallisgrass. They could not tell him what the product was or even the company they were working with, but said it was showing great promise for Dallisgrass control in our warm season turfgrasses. |

TurfDawg, when you used Celsius by itself, did you do more than one treatment? The label states it may take multiple treatments at the maximum rate.

The bad ones that have St Augustine I did two blanket apps at medium rate because that put me at the yearly max. It really stunned it and got a nice purple color but never did compleatly kill it. The only time I ever used it as a spot treatment was when I mixed it with the Revolver last fall. |

Revolver + Celsius is one of my replacements for MSMA or Trimec Plus. The others are Revolver + Image or Celsius + Monument. Revolver + Image may be used on st augustine. I would not apply Monument to st augustine though. Too hot for it. My experience with these new mixes is the weeds disappearing more and more with each mowing after application. I also know that these treatment programs are helped by keeping the lawn under a more intensive fertilizer program to make the grass more aggressive as the weeds get stunted.
