Opinions-What do you think of this truck?

Looking for a similar sized truck and came across this a few weeks ago. Went to look at it. Dealer has already added an electric flip tarp and roller on it. Seems motivated to move the truck.

The truck was hit by a tree on the cab, so the dealer bought it cheap and sent it to a good body shop to have some of the cab worked on. Truck was very very clean, ran pretty well, etc.

Opinions? 5.9 cummins too lite? Yes it is under CDL. hydraulic brakes too.

sure, derated from 33. So it can haul 13. A 550 will haul 10, plus it will fly under the radar a little better if its overweight. I like a 750 as a 33k truck like its supposed to be. Your giving up 7000 lbs of payload to be under CDL and if you get stoped with a load thats just a little heavy you get a gigantic ticket for being over cdl.

I cant say I agree 100% with ya really. I see your point, but dont at the same time. I get what your saying about a smaller truck "flying under the radar". But at the same time, nothin says overloaded like a f550 with 6 tons+ in it squatting and barrelin down the road.

It boils down to we can put roughly 6 tons in this, legally. Can't put 6 tons in a f-550 legally. And stopping a f-550 with 6 tons in it isn't always easy. Bigger brakes, bigger suspension, etc seems like the better option.

Hard to find a decent 550 diesel with a bed large enough and in good condition for the same or close in price too.

Disregarding all opinions on single axle dumps, that looks like a truck worth checking out. The 5.9 in this truck is probably the High Output version.

To be honest, I'd rather have a 8LL tranny and air brakes...but that's just me. Check it out though if that's what you're looking for.

Thanks for the opinion, I too think that a 550 or something can carry close to the same, but this is still a heavier duty truck, capable of carrying a heavier load.

I'd rather have a nicer trans combo and air brakes too but we really would rather the automatic so there are more people available to operate the truck. For the money I think it's a good deal. The Cummins in this truck is the 230hp 5.9, mated to the auto trans. I already drove the truck, seemed relatively powerful, it didn't wow me any but it did alright for the little bit I got to drive it around. Was very very clean, almost too clean.

Found a freightliner with a 5-7yrd bed,Cummins ISB, airbrakess, its a 2009 with 13k on it, body is pretty rough inside but otherwise its all real clean, asking $49,000, just for some sort of comparison

Yeah, the nice thing about the Fords and Internationals is that they're a little cheaper compared to similar trucks.

I'd just look at a few more truck before making any decisions...although that Ford does seem really nice for the price.

Truck doesnt have a hitch on it right now but not only has the dealer already added a nice electric flip tarp, but said he would install a full heavy hitch on it as well, no additional cost either.

disregarding the 550 part. If you just got a cdl than you could carry 10 tons in a truck like that. Thats basically the truck I want. That or an International. I couldnt pass up the extra 4 tons. I plan on getting the truck and getting my cdl with it. What are you gonna do every time you come out of the mine and scale out 1-1000 lbs over 26000? Turn around and dump a little out? Its a $5000 ticket.
