Hustler Engines??

I just had a not so good experience with a 23hp kawasaki engine that i bought that was called "Brand new". The engine was the right one for the mower and it was new but it was several years old. I sent the engine back. This is what i would like to know. I have done research but cannot find anything on the bolt pattern for kawa's. I am looking at a kawa 20hp which is much cheaper brand new with a 3 year warranty. (Kawasaki 20 HP - FS600V-AS04-R) I read that pretty much all the kawas in the 20-25hp range have the same base. Can someone please help me?

Most engines (Kohler, B&S, Kawasaki etc) all use the same bolt pattern over 17 HP. They also use the same smaller bolt pattern for 17 thru 12.5 engines.

Even if the bolt pattern isn't the same it's nothing that a 3/8" drill won't fix.
