Everyone chooses to run their business differently. I agree that everyone has to start with what they can afford, and a good business will put money back in to the business as it goes to upgrade equipment. If you are doing that then you are headed in the right direction. I personally like having trucks and equipment that reflect the clients I have. To me, my business is about image and what my customer and their neighbors think of me when I pull up, but everyone is different. Keep progressing along and you'll have a nice business someday.

I was thinking the same thing last night as i looked through this thread. Kind of remind me of LawnFreaks thread, putting all sorts of money into multiple half ton trucks when one 3/4ton or 1ton could do just as much. I guarentee that if you go to local landscaping consignment auctions you could pick up a very nice walk behind for little to nothing, i just bought a lesco walk behind with 119.7hrs on it with a bagger, thatcher and sulky for $1450. Pays to look around even if you find one amazing deal.
