Stripes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Figured Id get your attention, it seems as of lately all everyone mostly the newbies all they care about are stripes! Yes they look nice if done straight but I would take a clean crisp carpet like cut any day over just stripes. Example I got the V Ride 61" and switched to the G6 blades and the stripes have diminished but I could care less since the lawns look great and I dont need to double cut or bag them to look great. My 2 Dixies on the other hand paint the stripes on but the cut isnt even close to the Scag. My customers could care less as long as it looks good. The prices of fuel im looking to save as much as possible while still doing a good job, the Dixies I have to do alot of double cutting to make the clippings disappear even with the G6 blades. I dont have to on the Scag.

Lets here it!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what is your point? You can have a great cut and great stripes if you try.

Ah cut him some slack guys, he's just bringing up stripes versus no stripes.

Me myself, I know the Northern guys will will cuss me out, but I never did understand stripes. On top of not being able to strip well anyways down here in the south, I just think it looks fake. I'm more of the super short, crisp cut, golf course look type of guy. Stripes to me just look painted on and unnatural. Give me short and crisp, super green with a ton of landscaping any day.

For example IMO, my most famous and gorgeous piece of landscaping in the world (and no stripes.) ~Amen corner, Augusta National

Us southerners do it best. Cut it short, bag it half the time and enjoy a smooth green lawn. I like looking at the stripes but its smoke and mirrors if we cut that tall down here. In 2 days the grass will be ready to cut again with enough water.

agreed.

a quality cut is much more important than any stripes. too many are focused too much on the stripes.

stripes aren't sheot if the cut sucks.

On northern grasses if your not striping your mowing in one direction or in circles. Both of which look like crap.

I dont need any slack Ive personally put over 4000 hrs on ztr's and have gone from wanting to stripe every lawn to caring less about them on the same lawns and have gotten zero feedback either way from the customers on it so im all about saving fuel this yr and beyond. Just a crisp clean manicured cut. Not saying I cant or dont stripe cause my 1 Dixie Supreme with the chain striping kit lays them down

I stripe too, have a stripe kit on my mower.

but I've never gone to great lengths to make the stripes look perfect by going over a row twice or trying to get the stripes to look like they go through thinks like trees or light posts.

I just do my normal mowing. once over everything as long as its a quality cut.

Don't get me wrong, the striping looks great. We just have different grass down here. I can stripe taller grass(3" or so) but I've got to go over it twice using the 3 wheel rows to do the work. Its not worth the extra effort for me. Besides, we cut closer to 2" most of the time on our nicer lawns.
