Couple of questions on a mini ex. I have a lot of play in boom where it connects to the house. Seems like a straight forward bushing replacement job, but I have never done this before. Do you have any tips for doing it?
Second question. The battery light is flashing and beeping. The book said to check the fan belt. Did that. It's tight. If that's not it, then its the charging system. Does this mean the alternator needs to be rebuilt? Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, it is a straight forward job. What I did was mark, cap, pull all hoses, then temp weld a support to the boom that will securely hold it up and in place, legs that form a triangle and rest on the ground. This allows you to drive machine away from boom, and when done drive right back in. As for the flashing battery light, if memory serves, that light is for water level in battery. If it gets low, light comes on. Next check with voltmeter, before anything else. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Is it necessary to pull the hoses? I was hoping there was enough slack that I could extend the boom/dipper fully and back away several inches, then do the job.

You might be on to something there- went out and looked at my machine, and it might be possible. Let me know how it goes.
