Need input........

In the market for a different vehicle for lawn & landscape buisness.

Solo with 15 hrs. a week part time help.

Looking at a used U-Haul box truck.
F-350 dually with a 14 foot box, two foot of which extends over cab.

1997 with 200,000.
Gas v-8.
Not sure of gas mileage, but I can take it for a 2-3 hr test and then top it off.
Under 3K.

Other option is a pick up.......
Good, clean, low mileage pickups available around here for 3K.

It would be nice to have everything inside and with me all the time.
I would still use a small trailer for the bigger mowers.
I do not plow snow or want to plow snow.....

Big differance between the two type of vehicles, I am really not sure which way to go.

Any input appreciated.

Sounds like all you need is a half ton truck. You'll need to add another 15 hours to your route to pay the gas bill on those pigs. How much for the u-haul?

Good points.....

I have an 85 Accord for my "other" life.... 30 mpg....

From my experiance any older 1/2 ton is going to get maybe 10 mpg, is that what you folks are getting?

I figured the box truck at...maybe 9mpg?

I hear ya...

As I see it....
8mpg box truck vs 11mpg pick up.
But maybe I am wrong?

Maybe $60.00 a week in gas more.

But everything I might need is in the box truck, locked up and out of the rain.

Thats what I have been considering........
