CrabGrass In Your Zone
With this unusual winter/spring development, it would be interesting to note when, the CG actually shows itself, in your Zone...
Everybody has areas they come across, that grows CG, i.e.,,, in a ditch or something... PLZ post your findings as they begin...

Already found some here in N.E. Ohio. Soil temps. are in the low 60's . Was out treating on Saturday and have a customer that has only done a couple treatment per season. I usually hit him on round 2 and 4, as he just wants the weeds controlled and some green. Last year his lawn was loaded w/ crabgrass and wanted a pre-emerge put down this year. I found some crabgrass already germinated in a few bare spots. I'm using Dimension this year so I guess we will see how good it works as a post-emerge. After all the record highs last week, we are going to have a low in the low 20's, so I'm thinking that will take out any early crabgrass.

I could not believe it Sunday March 25th. But today on the 26th of March I checked again. I checked at the foreclosed house which had a poor, neglected yard. Heavy crabgrass last year.
Its about a 3/8th inch tall at maximum; it definitely looks like crabgrass. Michigan 2112. Photos soon. Temps of 29 expected tonight--its 39 degrees now. Soil temps about 60 last week. Mowed once. http://www.gddtracker.net/ The weed weather chart shows crabgrass control requirement way ahead of 2112. It shows treatment dates as "late" but not yet "Done". This is very interesting information...
I just started seeing the cool season grasses emerge last week or so, but now with the cold snap in place, I don't expect CG to emerge just yet, in this area... we'll see?!!?? thanx for the replies...

crabgrass in March
I can hardly believe it. Weather has been at record warmth most of the last two weeks. It hit 87 at one time a few days ago.
Crabgrass has appeared on a neglected lawn across the street. Soil temperature is about 50 today, even though we had temps of 33 last night, and soil temp was warmer a few days ago. A few dandelions have also bloomed. |

my yard was invaded with those dandelions last year. They sold me some Escort XP this year. I hope it helps.

no crab here yet, and this most recent cold snap helped for sure. That said, I bet dealers are kicking out WAY more dithopyr product this season than prodiamine.
Its been a few years since I have used Dimension but man do I love the clean spread without the yellow.
