New to me 2001 F450 Dump Truck

Well just bought this 2001 F450 Dump, it has 110,000 miles, gas V10, 2wd.

Work truck package so the inside is basic with crank windows etc. which i of course don't mind.

I was planning on buying another truck and trailer to run a mulch/brush/tree/landscape crew next year, but when I found this deal I realized how much better it is for my guys not to have to pull a trailer all the time. Not to mention this holds the same amount of mulch as my 16' trailer with sides (10 yards) Oh and has 6 tires not 8 like a truck and trailer.

Paid $3000 cash, all it needs is new manifolds (not desperate) and the scissor hoist under the bed is cracked. I was quoted $1200 to replace the scissors... not sure if thats the right price?

All input, questions, and advice welcome! Thanks

Will get more pics and interior pics etc in the next week or so

Why do you say that? The truck weighs 10k empty, so if I put 20k plates on it I can hold 10 yards legally. A yard of mulch weighs 700-800lbs according to my supplier.

Unless there is a problem other than weight?

Thats one thing I will have to get used to. I wish I could have gotten a diesel but good used ones are super expensive, and I am studying gas engines so I can do all the repairs on this one myself.

once you hit 26000lbs you need a cdl so be careful because if you over load it thats a nice big ticket

Unlike others, I am envious! Around me, Philly metro area, anything with a dump is in the $5k range. I'm talking 1980 C20's with a mason dump for $5k.

As far as gas mileage. It isn't your car that you drive 60 miles each way a day to a commuter job. It's a work truck. My lawn truck get 8-9 mpg with my 10 foot trailer. My Ford Stakebody gets 7-8 mpg. It's the cost of the business we're in. Iwouldn't run around in it doing estimates but I would have bought that truck in a heartbeat.

We haul 10 yards in our 450 it not legal but haul it and stops it fine. We're over the gvwr. It 15000 pounds. So if your truck empty weight is 10k your left with 5k payload.
