Get your company a custom short URL (similar to bit.ly)
Hey everyone!
Have you ever seen short urls like this: http://bit.ly/K4sXR7 Short urls are essentially a shorter website address that redirects you to a longer website address. Have you used them or wondered why you would use a short url rather than a long url? Uses:
There are free url shortening sites. Examples of those sites are: bit.ly tinyurl.com shorturl.com If you use twitter alot and want to have a custom short url. It is easy to do and CHEAP! I recently just did exactly that. I went to GoDaddy.com, purchased a short domain name (kirkslc.me). It only costs me $7.99/yr for the domain name. Went to bit.ly. Signed up for a free account. Linked my domain name with bit.ly and presto, you now have you own custom short url that you can use on twitter or anwhere else where there are character limitations. Now I can redirect people to my website with this short url: http://kirkslc.me/K4sXR7 If you need further help linking your short url with bit.ly, click here |
