What was the price difference between this mower and the diesel engine option?

You may just live it more then your wife. Great pick for a great mower. We have 4 and still smile every time I see someone on some other mower hitting bumps like hell. We just fly over them.

I didn't price the diesel. The way I see it is the mower will wear out before the diesel engine so why waste a good engine. Plus they cost a fortune. An airport I mow for is buying a 5100 diesel and it's $16,000. I paid $10,199 plus tax.

Wife is a keeper. She had to talk me into buying a new mower and supports it 100%. She gets an iPad and I get a new mower. Good tradeoff to me.

Ahh gotcha. Yeah usually the diesel option is a good amount more on any brand. The main reason I like the diesel engine is the fuel savings. The diesels I run are using .6 gallons of fuel per hour. Im assuming your new Ferris will be using around 2 gallons per hour? i dont know that for sure but thats whatd I's guess. Those savings add up real quick. Plus im using off highway diesel to save another .34 cents per gallon. your right on the engine out lasting the mower lol. Everything but the engines usually go up.

After 4 spinal surgeries the only way I'd want "double suspension" would be if "triple suspension" wasn't available!

I think the perfect mower for me would be a 3100 Ferris with a Gravely air ride seat! I could then lower the air pressure in the tires down to about 8 or 9 psi and head toward some serious grass.

I've been using Ferris mowers for many years. Most were brand new and we traded them in around 600 hours at the company I worked for for many years. We used the IS3000s until they stopped making them and replaced them with the IS2000s and IS3100s. I really like the IS3100. Great mower! I have put over 300 hours on one. I still prefer the IS3000, so I bought one with 425 hours on it last year with a 61" deck and 27hp Kohler. I have had nothing but problems with this Kohler and problems with the mower too. Several repairs have costed $400-$500! The downtime was a problem too. I do have other mowers but getting the broken mower to and on the trailer, taking it to the Dealer, and going to get another mower has costed a lot of time. So I'm pretty disappointed with my IS3000 right now, but the IS3100 like you bought is a great mower and the Vanguard 30hp performs very well.

sounds like water in the tank with the rough idle, and surging etc stc etc....

If it sat outside at the dealer it may be possible.
Is the fuel line located at the top of the gas tank?
