Geotextile Fabric Under SRW Footing?

So everyone calls it something different. Driveway fabric, geotextile fabric, geotextile underlayment. Whatever. The stuff we put under gravel when we are installing a paver patio. That's what I'm referring to.

So the purpose of that is to separate the soil (in my case, heavy clay soil) from the compacted gravel base, right? As I understand it, it helps prevent the fines from eventually working their way up into the gravel base and destabilizing it.

So if that's the case, why don't we use this same stuff when we are installing a compact gravel footing for a SRW?

Or maybe some of you guys already do that. I don't know. I'm a level 2 certified wall builder and I don't remember anyone ever mentioning this in any of the training I got. But maybe I missed it or forgot that.

Anyway, I got to thinking about it. And wondered if any of you install the fabric underneath the footing for your SRWs. And if not, why not? Wouldn't you want to do it there, for the same reason we do it for paver patios?

Oh now Jim is second guessing the engineers! The same group that about 6 months ago he was saying know more than the lowly contractors! (Jim thread about lips on block)

I thought this was Memorial Day, not April Fools?

I see Jim musta had some free time, he starting to think about things and put thoughts together, like I do

Is there a way I can block someone from commenting on my threads? Mods? Can we add that option to the forum?

Good. I am going to start doing this standard from now on. I haven't had a SRW fail yet. But I figure it's gotta be a good idea, for the same reasons it's a good idea to do it with pavers. Thanks for the confirmation guys.
