A quick question, where did you buy your book "Pricing for the Green Industry"? Amazon doesn't carry it and the only online retailer that sells it is: http://www.lawnandlandscape.com/pric...-industry.aspx

Thanks

I have a couple years on you bud... I am 32... I have been in the industry for at least, jeez, 18 years now. I was a foreman for a well established company switching back and forth between maintenance and hardscape for the last 8 years but then I moved locations and this past year has been my first year as a business owner. I have pretty much the same 10 year plan, mine involves buying property as well! It's funny that you mention the S FL market because it seems like a gold mine down there for somebody with a little capital and a lot of knowledge.....

Aura, you can get it from PLANET. The professional landcare network.

10 yrs on me! But still young.
Seems we have a very similar mindset, refreshing to see because I rarely see it amongst my peers in this biz. S FL would be a great market I think, nice and warm weather, I know the rates are a little lower but the key is tight routes.

I have/had a similar plan. Only skip Florida and I'm heading to Colorado.
That book looks interesting. I am going to order a copy.

If I liked the cold and skiing/snowboarding/snowmobiling, I'd head that way too. It's an awesome book to say the least.

Did a little searching tonight on young millionaires (shouldn't have drank 2 red bulls this afternoon), came across the story of Emil Motycka, he started a lawn company in Colorado at about 13 years old and grew it like crazy. From other articles I read, he brought in (I'm assuming gross revenue) $135,000 the summer after his senior year of high school, pretty impressive!

His company has around 65 employees right now and as stated in the inc.com article, once he learned to delegate he grew his company 3-4 times over and acquired 7 other companies.

http://emilslawns.com/ his company website. I definitely like how it's set up with the minumum pricing for services and an order form. I may need to implement something similar on my website.

http://www.lawnmowingguide.com/ He also co-wrote this book. http://www.lawnmowingguide.com/image...de-preview.pdf

Talk about some inspiration! I almost wish I started out earlier but you live & learn, and the experiences I've had in the past couple years from transferring schools from UND to Anoka Tech and starting my company in February 2011, to doing the partnership entity with my now former best friend in spring 2012, to this entire season, are priceless! Also, he's 3 years older than me, so we shall see what the future brings.

I really enjoyed you're thread! You do good work and plan to grow which I love seeing, (nothing's wrong with staying small though if it's what you want to do). I'm 16 and It was my first year in business this year and I learned a whole lot! Best of luck man!

Also when you say you are putting systems into place, what do you mean by systems? I hear people saying they are putting systems in place and I've always wondered what it meant.
