Benefits of Earthworm Castings?

I think the best uses for vermicompost are for landscape plantings and veggies.
The granular form is somewhat spreadable for lawns, may not be the best choice due to it's cost.

My personal garden has doubled it's yield since I began incorporating vermicompost.

There's a good article on worms, their castings and ACT in this month's issue of Acres USA. It even says worms can eat pathogenic microbes. Pretty cool. It's pretty amazing what a little worm can digest and help soil and the plants growing in it.

Skipster, good point about needing all the factors for a disease to thrive.

Sorry for giving the impression of being unfair to Barry or anyone else... I'm not picking on anyone intentionally... I asked a question about worm castings in hopes of elaboration on the subject... if there is no known answer, that is fine, but it doesn't mean that I don't need to know...

My interest in soils go beyond the dirt that holds the roots and the place we dump NPK and water until it looks right... disease is only one small example of soil borne problems facing scapers every day, and I'd like to discuss the cure to those problems moreso than magic beans in a bag... BTW I've understood the value of castings, since the 1970's, so there is little that is new to me except whether they might become haven for pathogen under certain environmental conditions... that would be something new to me...
