Some will blow smoke about 3 months revenue, yada yada. Really though they are essentially worthless other than a small amount for lead generation. The only time they have value is with larger organizations with good binding contracts that really only result in a management change. For a small company if anyone offers more than 2 weeks cutting you would be silly not to take it.

Best thing to do would be sell your equipment, and if you have a buddy thats in the business or could get some1 to give you a SMALL price to use their name, send out a letter to the customers saying you're not going to be servicing them anymore, however you recommend Joe's Landscaping to continue service. Most clients will stick with the "new" guy for the rest of the year, and after that most will shop around, some might stay. So its not a real marketable thing. From a buying prescriptive, I'd rather have the clients be let loose in the market and then sell them on my company myself rather than having to pay money for them and have the potential of losing them down the road.

Maybe you should try the search option for this topic. But, all you will find is the same as the first 2 posts.

There have been threads on this subject on LawnSite. Look for "how much is my business worth?"....things like that.

People have posted percentages and given an idea of what they have received in a business sale.
