College age part timer May thru Aug, pay rate?

I have a young buck coming on as a part time helper for me starting this week thru late August. Looking to give him 20 hours a week or about 3 days.
He has helped me in the past, sparingly on landscape jobs, for $10/hr.
Now I am wondering what to pay him on more consistent hours.

Should I stick with the $10/hr? Or is this a little high for college age help?
I am not going to do more than that, for sure.

I've been employing PSU students for 10 yrs. $10.00 is my starting wage also. I have started a few at a higher rate, as they had allot of experience. You should not have an issue for the Summer....

Anywhere from 12.50 to 20.00 depending on how much he can money he makes your company.

Dont know what your labor rate is, but half is good.

Maybe give him a "bonus" if he aquires some new clients for you or upsells jobs. By rewarding him for helping the business he'll not only get more money from more work for the both of you but it'll also establish some loyalty to you. Since he's worked for you in the past, it'll make him feel like he's part of the business and not just another laborer.

I don't understand the concept of lowering the pay because you're going to having him work consistently. If he was worth $10 an hour to you on an as needed basis, he should be worth that much to you still. Plus, I don't think the age should matter. If he's working hard, pay him what he's worth to you.
