Went about a month without a drop of rain and unusually hot weather for a couple weeks. Grass was starting to go dormant and I skipped about 1/3 of my lawns one week, but it wasn't a big deal. Then the sky opened up and in the last couple days, we've gotten about 4 inches of rain. When God blesses, he blesses big time. Grass is ALREADY looking like spring growth and I had to quit halfway through a shrub job today because it started raining, and wasn't planning on stopping until after dark. Oh the funny things the man upstairs does... but I ain't complaining!

I am glad I am only a part-timer.I feel bad for the full-timers but drought is part of this business.I am in my 2nd full skip week and probably will not be mowing next week either since any rain this weekend will take a bit of time to take effect.

Non irrigated lawns here are now beyond the point of return. Even if it does start raining, they will not recover the rest of the season to allow weekly mowing again. Seems once lawns go dormant, getting them back out is very difficult.

Your only a half hour from me and they're not that bad here yet. If we could get one good 1" or more rain we will be ok. If not, most likely nothing to do the rest of the year til leaves. Are the leaves falling by you? Over here I have several accounts that have leaves all over.

True. Its so wet here that in low spots other crews are making mud tracks. No dust tomorrow .

Are you north of me? I live right along I90 in SE MN. Areas from Cannon Falls north have gotten far more rain than us here. I imagine those areas are hanging in better than here.

But all things said, we could be in IA, IL, or IN. REALLY bad there.

Nope. West on 14&35. This weather is driving me nuts. If no snow again this winter I'll be doing some major changes. I'll have to, to survive.

My dads mowing business is down about 95% or more. There are some accounts he hasn't mowed since early June. I know my own yard there is still fertilizer pellets on top of the ground that I spread the 1st week of March. Surprisingly my corn field all around my house looks better than anything else within 12 miles, yet I have had less that a 1/4" of rain since the first of June, May left us with less than a 1/2".

But on the bright side we don't have a mosquito problem!

toast here in SWohio. moderate drought. I have lawns that haven't been cut since 6/12 and don't need it. The rig is parked until the sky turns dark and the sweet smell of rain fills the air for a lengthy soaker, which is tough to come by in arid conditions that can't even produce cloud cover. Drought starts a vicious cycle and we're in it. I'm at the point of just trying to keep trees and planted beds alive.
