How do you price aeration/overseeding jobs?

Yes you can rent a machine for $100 a day, but even if you just work for yourself you still have to put fuel in the machine, fuel in the truck, worry about wear and tear on the truck, pay yourself...
I got an email for a groupon the other day offering $40 aerations.. I'm sorry but I don't work for peanuts here people. For aerations we charge $175-$200 for 8k-10k sqft yard. Wouldn't you rather do 1 aeration for $200 than do 5 at $40? Ever heard of the phrase work smarter not harder?

I charge a min of $75 for it. But then again its only at most 5k sqft. Does not include overseed and I only do 1 pass. Customers flag off heads.

I get $35-$40 per 1000sqft all day long here. The bigger companies like TG, Lawn Dr, Scotts all get $40-45. That is aeration, fert & Seed.

There are guys charging $30 for an aeration only up to 9k, but then they jack up the cost on the seed and fert. Why not be up front with your client and charge what you need to make money. I have several large properties and we drop our price accordingly due to the volume of turf.

I have one place that is 15 acres and it was over 8k for it You have to get across what you need to do for the turf not the wallet sometimes.

I get $40/K to aerate and slice seed. Yes, it is HARD, I repeat, HARD work. Probably the toughest service I offer except for the fact the weather is cooler and at least you don't sweat totally to death. I think I will raise my price next year.

How much would you charge to do your 17.7 acres? If you simply do the math, and keep it simple... one bag of seed would cover 10k and same with the fert. Let's say your cost of seed is $60/bag ($4560) and your starter fert is $25/bag ($1800) that puts your cost at $6460! That does nothing to even touch the gas you would use to aerate that size of a property (tractor or pull behind). Then where's your labor? If you simply doubled your materials cost, it brings you to $12,920!

I have one that I do that is 5acres and I get $5375!
