What do ypu guys use to sharpen you pole chain saws?

I have a Stihl extended reach pole chain saw and it is getting dull, what is the most effective way to charpen the chain on it.

With a chain sharpener just like a chainsaw. Or take it to a dealer they will probably do it for $4-5.

The thing I use on my regular saw is a small round file, the teeth are smaller on the pole saw though.

You just need a smaller file then. They make different sizes.

Search youtube for a tutorial on hand sharpening chains. Take a little bit of time and practice to master.

Watch out giving your chain to someone else . I watched a guy at a saw shop use a machine sharpener . when he was done the chain was ruined due the heat that was applied with the sharpener. I seen more smoke coming off that chain than a camp fire would put off. Learn to use the proper file. Its not that hard.

Is a dremmel ok to use? I have seen a kit for a dremmel that has different size sharpening stones.

You can, but its real easy to overdo and trash the chain. Every tree guy carries a file and can hand dress a chain in a few minutes in the field. The key is not to let it get too dull in the first place.
