2006 Fastrak starts but won't stay running. Please Help!
Have a 2006 Fastrak with the 20hp Honda Twin. Been acting up occasionally but last night it got worse. Starts fine but will not stay running without the choke on, and will not run at WOT at all. Took plugs out and they look lean. Took fuel filter off and it seems to be flowing fine so I am thinking I may have a carb issue. Also removed gas and put fresh in. Nothing so far has worked. Does the carb need taken apart? If so, how much trouble is it to do? Is it common for maybe a problem with the carb gasket on this motor? Maybe sucking air? Please give me any advice you can and an idea how to perform repair.... Thanks in Advance

This will sound very odd....
But there is a chance you have a plugged up vent tube on the carb, remove the air cleaner and housing, you will see the vent tube coming off the carburetor, check to make sure its not plugged up with what looks like mud. Pj

Thanks so much. Got it fixed!
PJ,
Yesterday I started taking it apart again and started at the fuel tanks to the petcock. Petcock looked ok but cleaned it anyway. Fuel lines had a lot of cracks in them so I replaced. Lastly I put a new fuel filter on. Believe it or not it fired right up and runs great! I got lucky and did not have to tear it apart any further. Wanted to let you know in case you ever run into it again. Thanks for the help! |
