Finally Rain and Cool Forecast

Mid-August is generally a good time for us, to start fertilizing and seeding... This year is no exception, as we've just recieved 36 hours of decent rain that measures 4.5 inches AND the forecast stays near the 70s for the next 10 days with the overnite lows in the 50s/60s...

I'm going to pretend that the drought is broken and start the patchwork on irrigated lawns first... Does anyone else see the beginning of lawnseed season???

I seeded a dead patch in my mother's northern Michigan lawn. Raked...seeded...raked again. Weather about 80 in afternoons. After 7 days the tallest sprouts are about 2.5 inches tall. I have been watering every day morning and night for 12 minutes. Oscillating sprinkler. The seeds that were covered with the dead grass I raked up and reused for mulch are doing best. Certain areas are not showing much--Perhaps the seed floated away when the sprinkler was running.
