Bobcat 773 fuel gauge

I have a 773 skid loader that the fuel gauge isn't working. When you first turn the key the gauge jumps to fuel and ends up showing the machine is on empty. I know this to be not true. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

I don't know if you've gotten any replies on this or fixed the problem already but I have a year 2000, 773G machine and my fuel gauge conked out on me within the machine being a month old.

Bobcat wouldn't warranty it but after tracing back the electrical, etc. I found out it was the fuel sending unit that is mounted inside the fuel tank. The part, here in Canada, was $125.00 and about 45 minutes of my time. You have to lift the cab, look to the back of the machine and you'll see the wiring going to the sending unit mounted right on the top of the fuel tank. It's a simple unbolt, unplug, plugin and bolt procedure. The hardest part is trying to get comfortable lying over top of the linkages, etc. so you can reach the unit.

I hope this helps.
