Need some advice on Lawn

This new client I got refereed from by a regular from me.

His lawn is covered with this stuff he calls ivy or ivan its not poison.

it covers about 90% of the lawn , it takes nutrients from the trees and the grass but also is growing up on things like the trees and fences

Has anyone ever dealt with removing this and how to remove them from the roots.

his lawn is the size of 2-3 average home lots in 1 lot

I will attach the photo , any advice will be good..

I also contacted a buddy who has a lawn care business who said he will help if needed but I would like to do it on my own
