Are you serious?!?!

That was the reply I received after I told a new customer my price for aeration and overseeding. I said between $250-275 as there are a lot of bare areas that will need multiple passes and extra seed, and it was between a .35-.40 acre lot.

They also said "Back home they did aeration for $30 dollars!" I'm just thinking in my head "you're not in Kansas anymore." Around here we try to maintain high industry standards.

Maybe that was JUST the aeration price. There are guys in my area the run adds with an aeration of up to 10k for $30. BUT they get you on the seed and fert prices. Kinda bait and hook sales, if you ask me. I just charge $32-$38 per 1k for a/s/f

What do you mean? Too high, too low? TGLC, Scotts, etc. are usually all around $40+ per 1000 sqft here all day long. So the avg yard is 10k, one bag of seed, one bag of fert ($100 for easy figuring) and your costs are around 1/3 your bill without labor. Sounds good to me!

For aeration you get $40 per 1000 sq. ft.?
If my math is correct you would be getting $400 for a 10,000 sq. ft. lot and for an acre (44,000 sq. ft.) you would be getting $1760.
Cheers to that if you get those prices. I use the Lawn solutions 24" dual hydro and I am always cheaper then Scotts and True Green but there are still signs everywhere that will do it cheaper then me. The signs are usually $99 for aerate and seed up to 10,000 sq. ft., this definitly forces me to bring my prices down to get business.

I charge by the hour - $100 per, two guys, usually about 6 passes.
Level 5k property would be about $75.

That's correct. I usually will adjust my price down for an acre or more, but yes, that is my price.

$99 for a 10k lawn to seed and aerate is ******ED!! Don't know what your seed prices are, but if you were to say $60 for a 50#bag, that just leaves you $39 for a job that will take you on average, an hour. So that $39 now has to cover your labor, your gas, your vehicle cost, your insurance, your tags, going to get the seed and travel to the jobsite, etc. etc. etc.! NOT worth it to me!!
