I believe keeping her as a client was the right choice, specially if you are looking to expand in that area. People in a neighborhood may ignore the elderly, but they immediately take their side/symphatize should a problem arise and then its the big bad LCO that did the wrong and poof goes the potential clients. Think of the lost $10 as an advertisement fee, most elderly people talk eachother into a certain service provider (my experience so far) and you may get referrals.

Most elderly people are recluses. If I gave everyone I had a 10 dollar a cut discount I would have to lay someone off. Sorry an agreed to price is just that. You done eat a meal in a restraunt and then haggle about the price.
