good luck, but you will not create a better mower then scag or exmark, they are the best and most popular for a reason, they are built like tanks, especially scags, the stock spindles will last for close to 4000 hours, and for the brakes the brakes are only as good as the traction the front wheels have....stopping rarely an issue, if it is its operator error.

If the traction is at "zero" as in a caster wheel/tire rolling and spinning freely, then brakes make ALL the difference in the world. A wheel/tire that can spin in any direction doesn't require traction. It's simply rolling over everything. Add brakes and you'll need traction for them to work. Even with a smooth tire on the front, the braking ability will be better then none at all. That little bit of stopping ability on the front casters can easily prevent a mower from sliding down a hill uncontrollably.

Zero turn mowers are a death trap if used in the wrong conditions. Guys tend to push the envelope and go where the mower shouldn't go. In a way, I feel that adding brakes like this will make them push the envelope even more.

He's been trying to become a politician...

And then he has the heavy equipment attachment business...

And he also maintains a large Ebay presence.

I don't know how I missed this thread. I can say after all my years of mowing without brakes and never having an issue it will take some serious innovation on other fronts to grab even a slice of the market share. More than ever guys don't have the money to play musical brands, so they really need to get this right the first time.
