Oil darkening quickly and coming out of air filter.
I have a Honda mower that everytime I changed the oil it would immediately turn a dark gray color and blow white smoke right after it was started. Then the other day the mower died and oil was coming out of the air filter. What's up?

Are you overfilling the oil? Like Deukster said, bad rings cause blow by which will cause both smoke and higher crankcase pressures which will force oil through the pcv and into the carb.

I'll second the blown head gasket.

Not sure how a head gasket would attribute to oil coming into the carb.

You can often hear a blown head gasket as the compression leaks out.

If this is on your HRX I can 100% promise you that you DO NOT have a blown head gasket.

The HRX Honda has a CGV engine, it does not have a head gasket.
