driveway extensions....

this was my first year in business and did great. only problem i ran into was getting driveway extensions done for customers due to the paver i use wouldnt come out for small extensions like 4'x20'. any suggestions for next year???

Get a smaller guy whos willing to work with you or sell the job for more so the big guy is willing to it

Or line up 4 or 5 of them on one day to make it worth it

cant line up 4-5 of them bc 90% of the time the customer wants it right then and there. why wait for me to get a couple more when you could hire a seal company that does it all. thats the issue im running into. i know i can get an small excavator for cheap but i just dont really know how to lay asphalt how to make a clean edge or anything at all.

it would be great if i could line up a couple but im not getting those kind of calls daily. more like 5 a month and land 2-3 of them

Thats tough. I found a guy on service magic who is small like me and is willing to work. He gave me his pricing, i sell it right on the spot (letting the customer know my paver will be coming to do the work but i will be there) and call him up telling him what and where. He does it and i make cash just for shaking hands

thats exactly what im looking to do! id like to buy the equipment and have someone i know do it with me who knows what they are doing and get the jobs done on weekends but seems like the ppl i talk to are unreliable. so basically what you have going on is what im looking to do.

i just never learned how to price out the extensions

You should start off by doing small garage ramps for your customer. Buy yourself a small compacting plate and a quick cut to cut the old asphalt. Really easy to do. You just need something to haul the asphalt like a dump trailer, but keep in mind that you won't have to much time before laying the asphalt, since the asphalt will get cold pretty soon, unless you have a special hot asphalt carrier trailer.

I've done paving myself. By the time you ruin your truck. Boots. Shovels. Wheelbarrels. Rent the roller. Pay the two rakers you break even. If you want to do paving, do paving. If you want to do landscaping and make money on paving then just sub it
