Main brands are Lesco, Andersons, and Earthway. Be sure you get stainless steel. Try to get a five year guarantee. If you plan to lift it onto your truck, try for one that weighs under 30 pounds.

Small granular spreaders are called "organ-grinder" type; they only hold about 25 pounds.
Consider a professional stainless steel model. Gears guaranteed.

I have owned the Lesco, Earthway and Andersons. In my personal opinion Andersons is by far the best. Never owned a Spyker though.

For me the big thing comes down to availability or parts. There isn't anyone local who stocks a large assortment of parts for earthway or andersons. Atleast with a lesco if you ldamage the gear box you can grab another one the same day. Years ago when i got into fert I worked for Scotts, we used the andersons with the cone, those were the best I have ever used for a walk behind.

Andersons hands down best spreader out there. Very pricey though.
