GMC 6500 for first dump and hauling?
Doing alot more installs landscape/sod and with starting another company geared towards flood/erosion/stormwater control. I have been looking for a small dump truck that is an automatic to haul small loads and pull an equipment trailer. Another landscaper friend of mine has a customer selling a reg cab gmc 6500 dump and a 20' equipment trailer. He thought of me so he just sent me these pics. Im going to call the seller tommorrow to get specifics on the truck and trailer. I do know its an automatic and one owner truck. He is asking $15k for the package. Would be a nice starter setup without breaking the bank. Opinions fellas? Here are a few pics.

I think u need a longer trash bed not a dirt bed.
It is so cheap to sub out hauling, i wouldnt want the headache, ins, cdl for employee, etc. Plus you need a place to dump that is free. Posted via Mobile Device |

Don't know if I would go for a trash bed... Doing stormwater and erosion control may call for you hauling gabion stone in that thing to repair washouts etc . Im assuming a trash bed is lighter duty which the stone might dent.Looks like a clean truck and trailer.

I feel that a 16foot flatbed dump is the most versatile option for a jack of all trades truck for most small companies. I agree on subbing hauling. I can get most any tandem for 75 and hour around here.
