Value of my equipment

This is going to be my last year in the landscaping biz. I have found some other threads that mentioned 1 month gross revenue as a fair price for selling just the accounts without the equipment, but what should I ask for my equipment. KBB said my truck is worth $9000 with the plow in its condition, but I'm not sure where to look up values on my other equipment. Here's a list of equipment I would sell:

2003 Ford F350 5.4 w/ 145,000mls Fisher MM2 Plow, New Jasper Tranny in Feb
2004 Exmark Lazer 27hp KAW liquid cooled 60" with Trakvac 1800hrs
2011 Ferris Hydrocut 36" 16hp KAW
2011 Big Tex 70lr trailer
2 2012 Stihl BR600's
1 Echo 755
2 Stihl FS90R trimmers
Some Misc. small equipment

Also, should I tell my customers that I am selling the business now or wait until I find someone to buy it? Thanks.

How many accounts do you have and what would you be asking for them?

I would wait until you found out who is going to be taking the accounts over so that you can introduce them.

Or just take GoldPro with you and then all of his new customers can also join his fan club once they see his quality work!

I've got 65 accounts total for regular mowing/maintenance and another dozen or so in my customer base. I'm looking for around 10g's for the accounts.

I had a feeling waiting to tell the customers was the right move.

Its a tough sell honestly,Im assuming none of the mowing is under contract?? If thats the case people will be reluctant to drop a ton of cash for accounts that are not under contract. I have also heard of giving half the money up front then the other half in payments over 5-6 months contingent on not losing any customers.

20k-24k just for the equipment or for the accounts as well. Honestly if I found a buyer for the equipment for around 24k i would probably throw the accounts into the pot for a cup of coffee. I'm also willing to sell the pieces of equipment separately...I know the plow truck will move this time of year.

Right. None of the accounts are under contract. What if I had them sign a contract for the 2013 season? That would sweeten the deal right?

To the right person the accounts have got to be worth some money. About 40 of the regular lawn accounts are within a 2 mile radius of my home. A 3 man crew could easily knock those out in a day.
