John Deere LX176 No spark

I hope someone out there can point me in the right direction to figure out why I do not have any spark on my John Deere LX176.

I was mowing and the engine stopped, cranks but will not start. I have replaced the Coil, Igniter, Ignition Module.

I have checked the safety switches, wiring, fuses and still there is no spark. HELP!!

Did the magnets come off the flywheel? Flywheel key sheared? Are you using a spark tester to check for no spark?

Pull the kill wire at the coil and check for spark.

I have checked the magnets on the flywheel and cleaned. I haven't checked the key way on the flywheel I will check on Friday. I grounded the plug against the engine block and still no spark.

What should be the voltage out of the coil at the kill wire?

Do you have spark at the plug with the kill lead to the coil disconnected?

Might be a long shot but I have seen it happen. Many engines have an oil safety switch that will not allow the engine to run if it thinks the oil is low.

I was just recently having a problem with a kawi exhibiting the same symptoms. Turns out the sensor was malfunctioning. I disabled the sensor and it started...

Billsz28, where would the oil sensor be located? I have looked for a sensor and didnt find one and traced all of the wiring going to the engine. I though I had read somewhere that the Kawasaki FC420V-AS10 had some sort of oil pressure / low oil sensor??

Although I am not explicitly familiar with your exact model many engines do have it. It's a sensor going into the crank case with one single black wire going to it. Typically the wire goes to a module with a small red indicator light which then wires in to the on off switch.

The engine I had in my shop was on a piece of equipment other than a mower and had the on/off switch located on the engine itself next to the choke/throttle levers. The motor I had this problem with is a single OHV Kawasaki FE250D 8HP.
