See my thread about seed on April 26. It works very well--UNTIL--they don't water and the crabgrass sets in.
Be sure at least one guy waters so you can point to it and say--"This is what you should have done for a good result."
Say, "This mess isn't my fault!"--they will ignore you. Get your money up front.

With cool-season grasses any of theold pre-M products for CG worked fine in allowing Spring planting,,, always have...
Dormant Seeding is still my favorite because the roots are establishing as the ground thaws,,, not simply getting started, after the ground has warmed...
then are more able to survive the Summer w/out irrigation...

Did you realize that a couple of years ago,,, you'd have been called names for even suggesting that grass can be planted in the Spring... even with irrigation...

dormant seeding

In zone 5 we always have stopped seeding lawns after the first week in Oct. It is too unpredictable if you go past that date.
