Any body buying bulk gas.

With the prices dropping, I am contemplating buying a tank for diesel and gas.
I have looked at this befour but didn't act because my shop is in town and I am not able to store bulk gas in town. I have a budy who lives just out side of town who said that we could place our tanks there.
A five hundred gallon tank is more than enough to get us from spring to the fall.
And then a three hundred gallon tank for diesel.
This is a huge exspnse and I am still running the numbers to see how much we will save and if its going to be worth it.
What do you guys think?

You cannot store gasoline with ethanol it it. That's why it isn't made that way at the refineries. They only add the ethanol at the transfer stations just before it gets loaded onto the trucks, on the way to the gas station.

Never even crossed my mind, but I will have to ask, I will be buying it from the local framers coop who sell bulk gas.

So order gas without ethanol which is what you should be using anyway. But I wonder if anybody will bother to sell you only 500 gallons.

Be careful who you give keys to the locks, may end up costing you more than you think. Fuel is a hot commodity. :-) Also, how secure is this location, mighty tempting to the common thief as well.

I could get a 1000 gallons if I wanted, the coop sells bulk gas to Ranchers and framers around here.

We have in the past but it usually costs is more to buy on bulk. However, it beats the potential for employees stealing gas.

Gonna have to have a permit to store that much gasoline OnSite.

Look into stations that allow you to buy at today's price (say $3.35 gal) and continue to buy at that price until you use the amount you originally purchased. These places do exist.

You could buy 500, 1500 or 10,000 gallons and not store it at your site and it's fresh at all times.

No permit needed here, Wyoming is about 30 years behind the rest of the world.
There's good and bad that comes with being behind the time's.
I would love the opportunity to buy at today's price and have them store it, but like I said we live in B.F.E.
