My redmax backpack blower wont start. I cleaned the air filter and tried without. I cleaned the muffler and tried without.

I have spark and good compression. The carb was cleaned. The plug looks dry. tried gas down the plug hole. Nada...

If your sure it ain't the carb : Remove the muffler and spark plug, take a flashlight and check the condition of the piston. If it looks all black and funky, needs a top end. Also, take a small screwdriver and try and push the rings into the groove. They ain't gonna move much, but if they don't move at all they be stuck! Also look at the crown/dome of the piston. They have a habit of detonating/preignition and caving in the dome, sometimes to the point of cracking it. You'll prolly find the rings are stuck and wont allow proper fuel transfer. If you have to, clean any carbon buildup out of the exh. port while ya blow comp. air into the plug hole, to get a better view.

I did look at the pistons from both sides. I didnt do the rest but will check it out. Its still mostly apart.

The muffler wasnt bad either just a little in the spark arrester screen.

The carb was clean when dissembled. I stored it running with no fuel. Its possible the diaphragm is bad.

Gonna try a new fuel filter too.
