Tried to buy a Fastrak 48"

I just found this forum and am reposting since this is probably a better place.

Well I called the Hustler dealer and he told me there were big rebates on the 2012 models and he had one in stock. If I wanted a 13 I would have to pay full price.

I went and test drove it and it turned out to be a 2011. I didn't want a mower that was two years old already. Then after looking though the rebates I found out that I could get a 2013 for about the same price. They kept pushing a 2012 on me saying it would be easier to get without having to pay for shipping. So far I am waiting for a 2013 which I was told would take longer, but both need to be ordered.

Any thoughts why they are pusing the 2012 so hard when they don't have one in stock?

Some additional details if interested.
After doing many hours of research on sites like this and considering what the local dealers have to offer I narrowed it down to a Gravely ZT-HD, Exmark Pioneer E, and a Hustler Fastrak. The Exmark is the most expensive and has the Kawi R engine with the 2800 trans. The Gravely has the Kawi R and the 3100 trans. The Hustler has the Kawi S engine and the 3100. It seems like the Hustler was the best buy. I wasn't able to test cut quality up here in Michigan. I appreciate all of the information from these sites!

Chris,
Unlike the car manufactures we really don't have a 2011 or a 2012 model years. You'll find most changes in the product happen in September because a lot of the Mower manufactures year end is July 31st. We have build dates and you find running changes on our product throughout the year. Anything built after last August 1st I would say is a 2013, but the unit built in August may have slight changes than the one in Feb.
I would like to get more details on you lack of availability of the unit. We have 2013 and 2012 in the field selling. Please drop me a private message with more details of your issue.
