Ice A Way is rock salt. It has to be fairly warm (>20 degrees) for rock salt (sodium chloride) to work. I don't salt large areas, just sidewalks and garage front's mostly and like this stuff. It's mostly calcium chloride. It's a little pricey but works well. They also have one that's mostly sodium chloride with some calcium and magnesium chloride mixed in that's a bit cheaper. That works pretty well too.
