Darryl, the lots houses sit on are like .965 or 1 acre. The biggest mower used is a 36. But, some guys squeeze a 48 stander in the yards.

Wow...can't imagine mowing lawns that size with a 21 or even a 36 and a 48 on lawns that size isn't a squeeze in my opinion. I have a lawn that's about 1,000 square feet that I mow with my 48. I run a 48 inch walk behind and a 52 inch rider. To each his/her own I guess.

Wait...you're mowing 1 acre lawns with a 21 inch mower for $25?

One acre is 43560 square feet, the average house is 3000 square feet so now you are down to 40560 square feet, lets say the house has a pool, and its 24' round, so figure close to 500 square feet, down to 40060 square feet, give extra for a driveway maybe 30*15 so take out another 450 feet, so the average 1 acre lot has 39610 square feet of yard to maintain so with all of that, (and I was very generous) there is 0.909320477503907 acres of property, WAY to much to charge $25 for. I get $25 for a 1/4 acre lot that takes me 15 minutes. I mow with a 38" walk behind mower and it is quite small for an acre. 48 and + would be much better

Actually a "once acre" lot is usually 40,000 square feet, a half acre 20k and 1/4 acre 10K. A 3,000 square foot house is a pretty big house and since they're often more than one story would take up less space. But minor differences aside, I agree that $25 is really cheap for a yard that size.

Exact 1 acre HERE
I said that I was being very generous with my calculations, I just wanted to show that $25 is way to cheap for a lot that size.

EDIT, did you mean that one acre lot isn't actually a whole acre? Sorry if I missed that

Yes, usually they use a "Builder's Acre" which is 40,000 square feet. They do that for the sake of simplicity.
