dodge transmission

i have a 1998 dodge 2500 diesel automatic. truck was running perfect no issues. dropped the pan sunday to do a routine filter and fluid change, found 2 big pieces of metal on magnet. put the new filter and fluid in and took it to the transmission guy that we use (truck still ran good) showed him the pieces he knew what it was and went in the back and came out with the piece that broke and the pieces i had matched up perfectly. well needless to say the truck is in the shop getting a rebuild and a new torque upgraded converter put in. oh the part was the overdrive snap ring
