If there are any scratches in the piston they should not be in line with the stroke...
Fine scratches paralell with the rings will hold a small amount of fuel that will cushion the piston from digging into the cylinder..just like crosshatches on a cylinder...
If I can remember...I will post a pic of the process on Monday ...it makes them look like new..

Let me clarify that...All the wives I know are somebody elses...
Probably shouldn't hang around long enough to do the dishes....

Thanks for the picture mine is different however mine has the throttle like that but it also has a trigger throttle. But i got it figured out think it was just gummed up from sitting for so long. Thanks.

Good I got it. I do spend a lot of time getting all the stuff out from those rings. I guess that is a stihl?

We stopped buying the blowers with controlls on tube. Seemed to be more trouble and cables cost more if I remember correct.
