Any 1 man crews out there?

I used to mow/landscape full time and enjoyed it but things in my life changed and I went back to a 9-5. One thing that plagued me then was finding decent help. No matter how good I paid I just couldn't get anyone that would be dependable. Do any of you guys work alone? What are the positives/negatives to this?

I'm back and forth with help. Sometimes alone and sometimes a part timer. I hope next year I can push over the edge and get a full time guy and take away some of this burden. Right now I can do all the work by myself in about 55 hours. That's all good till we get some rain and then I'm way behind. With help I can work 40 hours and be done in 4 days with one day to sell or sit at the house.

I can do all the mowing myself but I usually use a few friends of mine for help when I get mulch jobs or clean ups. They wish I had enough work for them 40 hrs a week.

I like wear I am at right now, but being solo were some of the most stress/worry free days I lived. Plus the overhead starts to creap up one you have more people working for you.

I work 99 % of the-time solo. It limits me on the volume I do but I operate as a second income anyway. On bigger jobs I sometimes use a helper but just cant find the right person to do it on regular basis.

Solo here. Goal is to within 5 years have the business built up to where 2 employees can handle the mow route in 4 days and leaving friday open for fertilizing and maintenance. That will free me up to focus building up my other business.
