I only heard the sound bite on the radio but some they were talking about some people making demands on companies or else they will give a bad review.

yes i've been threatened with bad reviews. i had one guy who complained to the bbb - and the pastor of my church - even after i came back to his house to fix something, that was not my fault nor my responsibility, an even dozen times.

so i caved to the threat, and still got the bad reviews.

i hope that contractor gets $1,000,000 in damages, not just $750,000.

this has gotta stop.

These companies need to allow the contractor to respond in kind. If a contractor has nothing but bad reviews then there is a trend. If it is just one bad review out of 20 then most people will take it for what it is.

Sad part is like the old GM saying to paraphrase. Make someone happy and they may tell their friends, make someone unhappy and they will tell everyone they see.

The mention of Angie's List is worth noting too, and why I don't put a lot of stock in that site either.

I'm aware of other who posted negative on Angie's List ... even against someone they never met, hired or got an estimate from. And it's still factored in on the grade some.

They really should allow the owner to respond. I personally know of one instance where a rogue business owner had friends, family, and employees shill reviews for him and put negative reviews out for the local competition.

Pretty whack that you can make up an account and post negative **** under anyone's page.

I went to see a doctor in another town on a whim and was instantly given out paperwork/info about posting a rating on kudzu.com. I told him I would post a review and was given out massive samples and 2 narcotic scripts. I go to leave him a review and find he is like 200 reviews. People that told him they were not going to leave a review got below average care.

Hopefully things will level out soon. The owners of the site, such as this one are publishers not the content providers or some BS like that. It is still kind of the wild wild west on the internet.

Angie's List I think is a little more safe and accurate. You can respond to reviews, they are not completely anonymous and the staff at Angie's list do verify post by calling the person. If the person is not a subscriber to Angie's list them they do not count toward your rating but are still visible.
