Walker Blower Removal
I sucked up a piece of re bar in the blower. Can somebody send me a link or explain how to do it. I hear a lot of people mentioning that they have done it, but they have not said how they have done it. Guess its kinda good timing because they starter needs replacing as well.

lol. yep. cutting a yard that i hadnt cut since like mid summer. she was getting her house raised and the company that did the raising was a freaking sloppy company. left all kinds of trash in the yard. at least they cut the grass after they were finished case it was like 2 ft tall. only shitty thing is the edging and the amount of dirt and cement chunks. ill be using the edger on it for a little while. and the other thing is i had the yard looking nice. and now its a weed lot.

Thats a heck of a statement about Walkers man ! It will suck up a piece of rebar? My Scag triple bagger leaves sticks behind too often - pisses me off. I guess you don't have that problem...

I need to tackle this job this winter as well, my blower is wore out. Wondering what the easiest way is.

The blower will come out from the bottom so you will have to have a way to lift you machine off the ground at least high enough have room for the blower to come out. Like I said I haven't done one in a while so forgive me if I miss a step or two but it is pretty simple and will take about 1.5- hours to 2 hours or so to do (maybe...). 1) Remove the deck 2) Remove the blower belt 3) Remove the face plate on the blower for clearance 4) Remove the skid bar/ support from at the bottom of the blower 5) Remove the 2 bolts from the bracket on the backside of the blower that holds it to the frame of the mower. Don't let the blower drop and hurt you for it should be free at this point. 6) Drop the blower down out of the machine. 7) Install your new blower by reversing these steps. You may want to buy new hardware when you purchase your blower for the bolts tend to get eaten up from the grass juice. Also while the blower is out it wouldn't hurt to clean and repaint the frame if you see a lot of corrosion starting. Good Luck! Last edited by joemower; 12-02-2012 at 05:48 PM. |

That sounds about right. I also remove the tire on the blower side, with the deck removed I lean the machine over so that the fuel tank is touching the ground and place a floor jack under it to hold it on its side, makes it a lot easier to get the blower out. Not a bad job, make sure you have the right size blower to put back in

Good instructions, one additional tip. After I take off the deck I use auto ramps to roll the machine up on. Be careful but it helps to get at everything. Good Luck.

I'm curious because a Walker is my next purchase.
Is the blower failure a common thing ? Is it because it has such great suction that the housing takes a beating from sticks and stones ? Or is it a weakness in the design ? |
