Picking a good accountant

It's time I start looking for an accountant. I have had a friend doing my taxes for the last 10 years. I think I have basically out grown his services....

I became a LLC earlier this year & with business transactions getting more complicated I need someone who is looking out for my money when im not.

I hear of plenty of people who have "had a great accountant for 15 years)

That's what I want! I want a long term relationship with them. What is the best way to find a good accountant? There are hundreds in the City I work in and a dozen or more in the small town I live in.

learn quickbooks and do it yourself. accountants / cpa are as bad a lawyers.

short of that find a quick books pro advisor that will help train you and do your books within about 3 to 5 years you should be ready to go it alone.

Local BNI is always a good place to start. Every chapter will have an accountant and you can visit each chapter twice before joining. It's good exposure for your company and you'll meet alot of business professionals that are going through the same problems you are. Good way to start marketing your company for the next year.

We found our accountant this way and he's been a huge asset to the company.
